Xbox Softmodding

So you heard about modding your XBox...and actually want to start doing so. Well today I'm gonna show you how to mod your Xbox in this 6 part series. Now softmodding means you don't need to open the XBox case at all and best of all, you can still play on XBox live! You may already have the tools to do so, but here is what you will need...

An action replay (This has the memory card and a computer usb transfer dock. It is needed to get the file for the modding.) You can find these on places such as..Ebay, Gamestop, Etc. A copy of Splinter cell or Mechassualt. (original versions) They have the Linux program on them.

After you have all the tools let the modding begin!

First thing is first. Grab your Action replay and open the packaging (AKA anti-human device) Inside you will find the memory card and the PC dock. it hooks up via USB.

Plug in the dock then install the program with the cd provided.

Once done open up the save game utility program and copy the save game you downloaded onto the memory card.

Next, turn on your XBox but do not insert a game yet. Head to your XBox's memory and delete all instances of save games from Splinter cell or mechassault..depending on which game you have. Now insert the memory card into a controller and copy the save file from the card to the XBox.

Reboot the XBox.

Now insert the game you are using.

Next load up a single player game or campaign and select Linux the system will do some weird stuff but it's fine. Now you should have a menu.

Now select backup in the menu.

Choose which UDE to install by which Kernel you have, UDE1 should be used on kernels prior to 5713 (1.0 - 1.5 Xboxes) and UDE2 should be used on kernels 5713 and higher (1.6 Xboxes). The UDE2 only works on USA/Canadian Xboxes.

Next it will ask you to pick a bios loader/patcher, I usually use PBL-Metoo, as it's the fastest of the 3 loaders available.

fter that it will tell you to choose which bios to install, use Evox M8 for version 1.6+ xboxes and X2 4981 for version 1.0 thru 1.5 xboxes.

Finally choose EvolutionX or MXM for the dashboard. Personally, i'd go with EvolutionX. Wait for it to finish installing, when it tells you to turn off your xbox, you can then turn it off. If your screen goes black or green and is garbled, it is normal, just wait for the xbox's lights to blink green on and off, that signals that it is complete.

Congrats you have modded your Xbox. At this point you can play burned games, and use the ftp for the XBox. Next part I will explain how to install a bigger hard drive in your Xbox. Not you will have to open your Xbox for this.

APC power supplies/surge supressors...possible surge protector?

When it comes to protecting our pc's we all think one thing...surge protector's. But..these are not true surge protector's/ They are simply supressor's. So today I went out and purchased a upc surge "protector" and battery backup. Overall it works very well. If you want true surge "protection" Get a APC brand one. Prehaps IMO the best out.

Hp makes some crap computers but...

They can make a hell of a keyboard. I purchased tonight a HP keyboard from Wal-Mart. For $20.00 I can say it's a very nice basic keyboard. I don't need keyboards with an LCD screen, macro keys, etc. If it types...I'm happy.

Good morning..err I mean afternoon!

So I got up at 4pm. Whatever. Got so much shit to do today. Hopefully I'll get my new monitor. More to come.

3am and nothing to do.

Well actually it's 3:33am EST. But I'm still dwindling away at whatever work I need to get done. I am basically trying to decide on what I should do for a video tutorial. But I'm kinda limited on what to do. Basically I do not have a webcam, camera, etc. to work with right now. But we shall see what happens with your basic screen recording software. More to come!

First post, First everything.

We all know blogging has been around for a good while now. But it was just tonight that I got inspiration to start one. A friend of Mine Chris pirillo (htt:/chris.pirillo.com) has a very active community and a slew of blog entries. I read these amazed, and thought..you know I really should start a blog now that it is mostly phased out by teenagers and stuff. I mean they are all stuck on Myspace now. (which is a infection and a pimple on the internet.) With that being said, I welcome you to my life...my journy's..and God help us...Pictures of my family!
